My Intention:

Last winter, I decided my life story needed a shift. A shift towards being fulfilling to my Self.

I applied to opportunities I felt aligned with my values and general direction I wanted to explore at this point in time while I continue to figure myself out.

Being the author/director to ones own life felt like an abstract concept, but it is real.

I'm non-religious but I do believe in a higher something that knows, I choose to name it ‘the Universe’.

What unfolded for me:

I was selected to participate in an international artist residency at a multidisciplinary studio in Queens, New York this Fall.

I was also selected to hold a solo exhibition in January 2027 at an artist run centre in Victoria, BC.

I have been spending the last several months packing my life away into boxes to be stacked in a storage unit. I've also been selling my art and possessions to raise funds for my first artist residency (I'm super close to reaching my goal!)

It has been an opportunity to continue learning about my Self, attachment, experience letting go, trusting in others as well as the Universe, and most importantly - making genuine connections with amazing humans.

I am leaving for Seattle next week, before heading to New York. I won't be back in Victoria until December. I wanted to get the word out there about my solo exhibition so started sharing my postcard invitations. It felt strange at first. I felt hesitant and almost embarrassed to be self advocating for my own work because what if x-y-z isn't good enough? Every interaction has been positive which showed me that it's generally safe to advocate for my work and what I'm striving to do. I feel deeply grateful for all the kind and supportive humans I've met.
