Residency: Week 1
Easing into Residency
Day 1: Orientation
Day 2: Wedging/Throwing <4lbs
It has been quite a journey to get to this point.
It feels like not long ago when I blocked off September through November as “NYC Residency”. At that time it didn’t feel real. I am still in a bit of disbelief that I am in Queens, starting a new chapter in my life journey.
I am more or less settled into the first of two places I will be staying at over the course of the next 3+ months. This first cozy studio is on 30th St near a station. Surrounded by the most community oriented local spots including satisfying breakfast bagels (Between the Bagel NY), amazing coffee (Olive Coffee), and delicious treats (Al-Sham Sweets). I’ve also encountered a couple lovely go-to spots for groceries/necessities (Broadway Naturals, Ten Ichi Mart).
I am signed up to learn from Kseniya Polyakova next week, to refresh my brain and muscles. With everything that unfolded earlier this year, I had to set my work aside, not having thrown anything since Spring. Feeling not as prepared as I would like to be, and also excited to learn from Kseniya again!
