Residency: Week 2

Highlights:

Kseniya Polyakova 2-day Workshop, Round 2!

Finishing up 2 lil vessels, playing with handles

Getting into a studio groove. This current place is conveniently located very close to an above ground subway station. It's an older cozy space, which means each train is ….very audible 😂☠️ I've not really been able to sleep very well, but it's all part of a New York experience!

Getting to the studio in the morning is peaceful. I've found a nice spot near the reclaim buckets and find joy in hearing the occasional gurgle from the reclaim - it's as though it's alive.

I've met several wonderful artists already in this short time. I deeply appreciate our conversations, sharing knowledge, exchanging stories.

Kseniya’s workshop was personally eye-opening - I retained more than I had thought! When I took her workshop last November, she helped me make about 90% of my vessel. This time, I made about 90% of it :)

Learning how to throw large, composite vessels has been a personal goal, and I'm very grateful to be able to learn from Kseniya again. This time I was able to process her techniques more easily. I have identified foundational pieces I was missing, reinforced techniques, and noted what I need/want to continue practising to continue growing/improving.

The current artist in residence is holding their Artist Reception tomorrow evening, and I'm looking forward to attending!
