Residency: Week 5
The first half of this week was amazing, I accomplished my September goals. I threw 2 larger composite vessels.
The oil painting x ceramics collab with Niklas Dorsch is unfolding to be super exciting! I'm throwing mini vessels to be worked into one of his brilliant 3D oil painting scenes.
I am needing to trim and carve a bunch of vessels, and there will be several that will be ready to be glazed shortly.
Dave Kim’s Moon Jar Workshop (3/4): we learned how to throw 12lb moon jars! For the final class, we will be learning how to make composites!
Tiff Saw’s Porcelain & Carving Workshop (3/7): we trimmed our pieces. I plan on going in early next class during open studio at Slo Slo to finish sketching, as we’ll be carving.
After almost recovering from a cold - I managed to contact the flu in the latter half of week 5 (thankfully not COVID). This is significantly impacting my workflow as I'm unable to leave the bed. Fever, coughing fits, terrible body aches, congestion… I'm not surprised if this is a cold/flu combo my immune system is battling. I've had to take 3 days off to recover so far, which I'm really unhappy about. But I value recovering now vs having this linger longer and also not exposing other artists to whatever I have.
Really hoping I start feeling better tomorrow so I can continue my journey and get back into the studio to keep kicking ass.
